Our Story

There is something to say about the beauty of the Adirondack mountains and campfires that last long into the evening.

One night, stories shared by friends over a great glass of bourbon, and a shared passion to open a distillery in the heart of the Adirondacks was the start of our journey.  Each partner brings unique strengths to the business, and all share a love for the Adirondacks which has been deeply rooted with family traditions.

Numerous weekends have been spent taking classes, studying, and visiting distilleries to learn the craft of distilling, and to bring the best distillery to Chestertown.  We use locally sourced ingredients in every batch and every bottle produced is a commitment to the outstanding quality of our spirits.

 

 

Nestled in the heart of the Adirondacks, the Crazy Loon Distillery is located along the shores of the Schroon River. The building has a great history, as many years ago it was a bar that provided many locals with a place to gather for a drink.

From the moment you enter the building, the beautiful knotty pine walls of the distillery instantly welcome you to the Adirondacks. Inside you will find that we carefully selected materials to create a warm and inviting place to relax. The reclaimed wood from the original Schroon Lake Marina, the tin ceiling and the whiskey barrels, along with all the little and big touches will surely provide you with a warm and inviting welcome and help create the nostalgia of our beloved Adirondacks. Come visit the tasting room.
